Nashville, Tenn.--- In a poll voted on by the Ohio Valley Conference head coaches, the Tennessee State University softball team was predicted to finish the 2008 season in seventh place.
Tennessee State finished the 2007 season with a conference mark of 12-15 and an overall record of 35-23, the program’s first winning season. The Tigers have 12 players returning and seven newcomers.
Tennessee Tech was picked to repeat as OVC Champions. The Golden Eagles, who finished the season with 50-12 overall mark while going 20-5 in the league, became the first OVC team since 2002 to earn a victory in the NCAA Tournament. Jacksonville State was picked second while Eastern Kentucky rounded out the top three with a third place prediction.
TSU will kick off the 2008 season on Saturday, February 9 at Georgetown. The Tigers will host Alabama A&M on Saturday, February 16 in a double-header at Tiger Field.
