Five Tigers Honored at Senior Day

Nashville --- Five TSU seniors were honored before the Tigers dropped a 2-0 decision to the Eagles in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Tiger Field.

 

Tennessee State finishes the season with an overall record of 16-38 and an OVC mark of 8-19. Morehead clinched a second place seed in the tournament as they improved to 33-14, 16-9 OVC.

 

Lauren Weber (5-9) was charged with the loss while Alex Gjevre (17-5) picked up the win for Morehead.

 

Jennifer Gregory was 2-for-3 from the plate and had a stolen base in the game. Brittany Webb also connected on 2-of-3 at the plate for TSU.

 

Morehead used three hits in the second inning to score its first run of the game. The next four innings were scoreless until the Eagles posted another run on a squeeze play in the top of the seventh.

 

Holding a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 7th, MSU pitcher Sarah Funston retired three straight TSU batters to end the game.

 

Seniors Katie Anderson, Jennifer Gregory, Ebon Jones, Amanda Vaught and Lauren Weber were honored during the pre-game ceremony. University President, Dr. Melvin N. Johnson, threw out the first pitch to Athletics Director Teresa Phillips.
