Nashville--- In a game that featured nearly a two and a half hour rain delay, the Tennessee State University softball team dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting Eastern Illinois on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.
TSU moves to 6-13 (0-1 OVC) while EIU improves to 5-10 (1-0 OVC) on the season.
Eastern Illinois posted the first points of the game following a walk and two singles in the top of the second inning before the decision to roll out the tarp came. Following the rain delay, Tamara Perkins tripled to right field to bring Jennifer Gregory home and even the game at 1-1.
In the top of the fourth, EIU’s Menzione hit a solo homerun to left field to put the Panthers up for good.
TSU and EIU will meet tomorrow to play games two and three of the series. The first game is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
