Nashville --- The Tennessee State University softball team dropped a 4-1 decision to cross-town opponent Belmont University Tuesday afternoon at Aquinas Field.
Tennessee State falls to 13-24 while Belmont moves to 14-24, snapping a three-game losing streak.
A triple and a sacrifice bunt led to Belmont scoring the first run of the game in the bottom of the first before two more runs by BU gave the Bruins a 3-0 lead.
The Tigers rallied to score their only run of the game in the top of the sixth inning behind a solo shot to left field by Tamara Perkins. The Bruins, however, responded with another run in the bottom half of the inning to go ahead 4-1.
Tennessee State will next face Tennessee Tech in Cookeville for the final game of the series on Wednesday afternoon. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. TSU swept Tech in the earlier meeting.
