TIGERS FALL TO SOUTHEAST MISSOURI IN SERIES FINALE

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-The final game of the Ohio Valley Conference series between Tennessee State and Southeast Missouri State proved to be a pitchers duel. The Redhawks scored in the seventh inning to pull out a 1-0 victory. Junior Amanda Vaught and the Redhawks Elaine Fisher each scattered three hits for the first six innings of the ball game. Southeast Missouri (8-14, 3-3) put together two hits to score a run in the seventh inning off Vaught to take a 1-0 lead. Fisher was able to retire the Tigers in order in the bottom half of the seventh to preserve the win. Fisher improved to 6-10 as she struck out three with no walks. Vaught (10-5) went the distance for Tennessee State allowing one walk and striking out eight. Freshman Tamara Perkins and Senior Diana Clifford were each 1-for-3 at the plate. Freshman Chelsea Brown picked up her second hit in as many days and finished 1-for-2. TSU (22-12, 3-5) travels across town on Wednesday, March 28, for an out of conference match-up with Lipscomb University. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
