DELAYS, TOUGH LOSSES FACE TSU SOFTBALL TEAM ON THIRD DAY
OSCEOLA, Fla. --- The Tennessee State softball team had a long and tough night on Tuesday as the Tigers dropped a pair of tough decisions, losing to Saint Peter's 3-2 and Robert Morris 3-1 in late games as play in the Rebel Spring games was delayed. Tennessee State had eight hits to Saint Peter's five, but the Tigers could not overcome the Peahens in dropping the one-run decision. Emily Samana had a big game at the plate in a losing effort, going 3-for-3 with a solo home run, her second of the season. Nira Robbins had a 2-for-4 game. Stephanie Kemme was the losing pitcher. In the game against Robert Morris, a pitching duel went the opponents' way. TSU had five hits to RMU's three, but TSU made a pair of key errors. Diana Clifford singled in the fourth inning and would come around to score on Melanie Cruz' double. The 1-0 stood until RMU pushed across the three runs in the sixth inning. Candace Hildebrand took the pitching loss for TSU. TSU (6-10) will have an off day Wednesday from game action and will resume play Thursday with two contests.
