NASHVILLE --- Nira Robbins' sacrifice fly to left field scored Emily Samana with what proved to be the winning run as Tennessee State rallied in the rain for an 8-7 win over Alabama A&M Wednesday evening. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was cancelled due to the rain and field conditions. The Tigers (3-4) had entered the fifth inning trailing, 7-5. Leena Worrell's third hit of the game was a double to center field to lead off the inning. After Lauren Weber had a single, the Tigers loaded the bases and then got consecutive walks to Erin Finneran and Jessica Sesson to tie the game. Robbins then lifted the fly ball to left and Samana was able to beat the throw to the plate to give the Tigers the lead for good. Alabama A&M had taken the early lead, scoring twice in the first inning. The Lady Tigers scored four runs in the first and added one more in the second before the Bulldogs scored four times in the third. Worrell was 3-for-3 with two RBI. Robbins accounted for TSU's run in the second with a solo home run over the center field fence, her first of the season. Weber relieved starter Samantha Hurst in the second inning. After walking three batters early, Weber retired 12 of the last 13 batters she faced, allowing a one-out walk in the seventh to earn her second win of the season. Re'Quincia Mack and Brandy Harrell each had a hit and two RBI for the Bulldogs (0-7).
