LEENA WORRELL THIRD OVERALLIN BATTING RACE; SECOND TEAM ALL-OVC

NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State junior softball player Leena Worrell finished third overall in the Ohio Valley Conference batting race and was named to the 2005 All-OVC second team. Worrell, a third baseman in her first year with the Lady Tigers, hit .386 overall and .394 within the conference. The overall stats included the league tournament that concluded over the weekend while the conference stats included the regular season games only. A native of Butte, Mt., Worrell was also fourth in the OVC in doubles with 13 and sixth with her .421 slugging performance. The All-OVC team was announced prior to the start of the tournament while the final statistics were released Monday following the event. Tennessee Tech defeated regular season champion Jacksonville State in the championship, the team TSU closed its season against, to win the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
