NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State was shutout by Tennessee-Martin's Megan Mizell for the second consecutive game as the visiting Skyhawks completed a three-game sweep over the Tigers with a 9-0 victory Saturday afternoon. Mizell, who tossed a two-hitter in Friday's second-game, scattered six hits this time around and struck out nine Tigers in running her record to 7-3. TSU starter Tara Evanisko took the loss for TSU. UT Martin leadoff batter Jennifer Young was 3-for-4 with four RBI. Shortstop Kristin Runyan was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI as UTM put together a 13-hit attack. The Skyhawks broke the scoreless tie with two runs in the third and fourth and put together a four-run sixth inning. The Tigers got two hits each from second baseman Heather Ebersole and Leena Worrell. TSU loaded the bases with one out in the sixth, but could not score and the game ended due to the eight-run rule. TSU stranded a total of six base runners. TSU falls to 2-18 overall and 0-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference. UTM stands at 18-7 and 5-1. The Tigers host Belmont Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader at 2 p.m.
