LADY TIGERS FALL IN DOUBLEHEADER AT CHATTANOOGA
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State softball team fell victim to 15 strikeouts in a 7-1 defeat to Chattanooga in the first game. After leading 3-0 through three innings in the nightcap, TSU saw the hosts score 10 unanswered runs on the way to a 10-3 win and complete the sweep Wednesday evening. In the first game, TSU's third baseman's Leena Worrell's solo home run to left field to lead off the second inning was the offensive highlight. Laura Freeman had the Tigers' other hit as Chattanooga's Lacey Swarthout struck out 15 batters. TSU got off to a good start in the second game, building a 3-0 lead. Worrell had a two-out RBI single in the first inning. Nira Robbins had a two-run double to build the lead to 3-0 in the third frame. The Lady Mocs rallied for four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings and added two more runs in the sixth inning. TSU was held to a lone hit after the third inning. The Tigers will have their home opener scheduled for Saturday at noon against Western Kentucky at Tiger Field.
