MOREHEAD, Ky. --- After dropping the first two contests of its three-game set at Morehead State on Saturday, the Tennessee State softball team rebounded on Sunday and shutout the Lady Eagles, 6-0. The Tigers had already recorded four of their total 11 hits by the top of the fifth inning when they notched three runs. Junior Tarah Evanisko (Morgan Hill, Calif.) got things started for the Tigers with a single to right. Freshman Laura Freeman (Nashville, Tenn.) and junior Caryn Barber (Santa Rosa, Calif.) each notched singles to load the bases. Senior Shannon Hicks (Smyrna, Tenn.) smacked a double to left center and sent all three Tigers home. In the top of the seventh, Tennessee State repeated the feat and scored three more runs. Hicks notched her fourth and fifth RBIs of the day after her single scored Barber and classmate Catriona Smith (Marion, N.C.). A sacrifice hit by rookie Hollie Sanders (Columbia, Tenn.) sent Hicks home for the sixth Tiger run of the day. Tennessee State returns to action on April 3-4 as it continues its roadtrip taking on Southeast Missouri State.
