TSU SOFTBALL BOUNCES BACK FROM ERROR-PLAGUEDFIRST-GAME DEFEAT TO GAIN DOUBLEHEADER SPLIT

NASHVILLE --- Junior Tara Evanisko tossed a one-hit shutout in the second game as Tennessee State back bounced back from an error plagued 7-2 defeat in the first game to gain a 5-0 victory and doubleheader split with visiting Alabama A&M Wednesday night. Evanisko allowed only a leadoff single by A&M pitcher Tasha Sloan in the second inning. Evanisko has seven strikeouts and did not allow another base runner in moving her record to 3-3. TSU (9-12) scored four runs in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie. Catriona Smith was 2-for-3 with three RBI and Hollie Sanders and Laura Freeman each drovbe in a run. Sabrina Smiley was 2-fo-r3 and scored a pair of runs as TSU had 11 hits in the second game. In the first game, Alabama A&M did not score an earned run as TSU committed seven errors. Sloan pitched a pair of complete games for the Lady Bulldogs and did not allow an earned run. A&M is now 6-20 on the season. TSU travels to Sacramento, Cal., for the Capital City Classic this weekend.
