Volunteer Graduate Assistant
After spending two years playing under Head Coach Monroe Walker III, and helping the Tigers win its first OVC match since 2002, Kyle Burton, former Tiger tennis star, will begin his first year as the graduate assistant to the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Tennessee State University in January 2018.
In his last year in blue and white, Burton earned the TSU Academic Excellence Award for the highest GPA among male student-athletes, while leading TSU with 10 singles wins with a 10-3 singles record and posted a 9-2 singles record in dual match including an 8-2 mark at No. 5 singles. Alongside his partner Tom Vanden Broeck-Parant, Burton led Big Blue with nine doubles victories.
Shortly after receiving his bachelor’s, Burton helped organize a tennis program at the Hadley Park Tennis Center, where he also served as a Teaching Pro, coaching students 18 and under.
Burton graduated from Tennessee State University in the spring of 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science, and is pursuing his Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Sports Administration. Burton will finish his graduate studies in May 2018.
Burton hopes to obtain a Doctoral degree in Sports Management, and aspires to become a Division I Athletic Director.
