NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State University Director of Athletics, Teresa Phillips, has been named to the NCAA’s LRI Director of Athletics Task Force.
The mission of the task force is to develop a sense of community among participating athletics directors that will provide an opportunity for open discussion on important matters.
Focus areas will include student-athlete success and strategies to support that success, coach accountability for academic success and bridging the gap.
The task force will also spend time developing strategies for highlighting the success of limited resource institutions and historically black colleges and universities.
“With the many challenges that HBCUs and smaller NCAA institutions face in adequately supporting their student-athletes from an academic and health perspective, it is important that leaders at our institutions share and develop best practices and strategies to support the academic success and health of our student-athletes,” commented Phillips.
As a member of the task force, Phillips will serve a three-year term beginning October 2017.
