TSU Athletics Collected Over 1,046 Pounds of Food for the Samaritan Ministries
Nashville --- The TSU Athletics Department and Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) annual canned food drive was a huge success.
The Canned Food Drive, in conjunction with the Ohio Valley Conference's 12 Days of Christmas fundraising campaign, began Fri.,Nov.13 and concluded on Thursday, Dec.3 .
Players, coaches as well as the TSU athletics administration and staff took on the challenge to collect the most items within their area. The men's and women's tennis teams won the challenge by collecting over 500 items. For their efforts, the teams were recognized during halftime of the men's basketball game against Eastern Illinois.
Throughout the months of November and December, Tiger fans and supporters were encouraged to drop of their donations by campus at anytime and during the home basketball games versus Siena, Cumberland, Lipscomb and Eastern Illinois.
"The TSU "SAAC Hunger" project collected over 1,046 pounds of food!" commented SAAC President Meredith Stafford. "We will make the team competition a part of this annual community service project."
All items collected will be donated to the Samaritan Ministries as a part of TSU Athletics' annual community service projects.
