Ed Temple Foundation Honors The Man, The Memory, The Mission

 

Nashville --- Team Temple Race Day will take place on May 25, at the Ed Temple Track on the campus of Tennessee State University. The Team Temple Gala will be held on May 26 at LP Field Stadium Club.

 

Coach Ed Temple will go down in history as one of the greatest coaches of any sport at any time. He dedicated his life to helping others do more, both in athletics and academics. The Ed Temple foundation was established as a tribute to Coach Temple. His inspiring legacy will live on for generations through Team Temple’s unique partnership with New Hope Academy.

 

Join the Ed Temple Foundation in celebrating THE MAN, THE MEMORY, THE MISSION at the Inaugural Team Temple Celebration, May 25-26.

 

The combined events will feature the Team Temple Race Day which will include the 5K Race, the Diva Challenge and the Race for Tomorrow.

 

The Team Temple 5K Race and Walk will begin at the famous Olympians statue on the campus of Tennessee State University and is open to all of Nashville, Franklin and beyond.

 

Later in the morning, the Diva Challenge will kick off at the Ed Temple Track. This event will feature USA Track and Field’s fastest female runners in the country. These ladies will participate in three tribute races in honor of Coach Temple, the Wyomia Tyus 100 Meter Sprint, the Wilma Rudolph 200 Meter Sprint and the Tigerbelle 4x100 Memorial Relay.

 

The Race for Tomorrow will also take place on the Ed Temple Track and will highlight the area’s young runners in the Middle Tennessee race for the gold.

 

On Tuesday, May 26th, the Team Temple Gala will wrap-up the two-day event. The Team Temple Gala is a special evening to honor Coach Temple. A silent auction including authentic Olympic memorabilia will be followed by fine dining, an interview with Coach Temple, and a video on his life and career. The debut presentation of the Charlie B. and Ed Temple Award, given to a couple whose service to the Nashville community continues the tradition of Mr. & Mrs. Temple, will round out the evening.
