Tigers Can't Snap Skid Against Western Kentucky

Tennis Drop 7-0 loss to WKU

Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University Tiger men and women's tennis teams remain winless on the year losing to Westen Kentucky in non conference play at the TSU Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon. Both squads dropped their matches 7-0 moving to an identical overall 0-5 record.

The TSU team of Justin Hamm and Aaron Fields at No. 1, dropped 8-2 to Tomi Krug and Arul Selvan. To earn the doubles point, the Hilltoppers' team of Currie Martin and Pryank Gangadhuran defeated Jaala Brooks and Michael Mosley, 8-1, at No. 2.

Down 3-0 due to defeats in the doubles, a forfeit and a match retired, at No. 1 in singles competition, Hamm loss (1-4) 6-1, 6-0 to Krug, while Fields (1-4) dropped 6-1, 6-2 to Currie in the number two game. The Tigers only scored seven game points in five single competition games played on the day.

On the women's side, the Tigers were swept by the Lady Toppers scoring only one point in singles competition. In the highlighted doubles match, Megan Haynes and Penelope Johnson were downed by Erin Fulkerson and Jacomein Feilzer, 8-3, before TSU loss the follow-up doubles games to surrender the point.

The Tigers will resume OVC play when they travel to Jacksonville, Ala. to play Jacksonville State on Friday, March 27. Match time is scheduled for 1:30 pm.
