TSU Basketball Gears Up for Morehead State Tonight

TSU Basketball Hosts Morehead State in OVC Action  

Nashville, Tenn. - The Lady Tigers and Tigers will host the Eagles of Morehead State in OVC play during Cricket (mobile) Night. The match-up is scheduled for tonight, beginning with the women's game at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Tigers and MSU will meet for the 41st time in the long series with the Eagles holding a 25-15 lead. In the last meeting, MSU defeated TSU 67-64 at Ellis T. Johnson Arena.

Tennessee State (6-8, 2-1 OVC) is coming off a 61-52 win over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. The Lady Tigers are looking to win their third straight OVC contest and remain undefeated in the Gentry Center. TSU is led in scoring by Kendra Appling (17.4), Tiffany Jackson (16.6 ppg), and Jasmine Smith (13.3 ppg).

The Eagles are coming off a 73-52 loss to Austin Peay on Saturday. The Eagles (8-7, 2-1 OVC) are led in scoring by Chynna Bozeman (14.9 ppg) and Tiffany Hamilton (12.6 ppg). Brittany Pittman pulls down a league second-best 9.7 boards per game.

 

Immediately following the women's game, the Tigers (4-9, 2-1) will continue their homestand against the Eagles of Morehead State at the Gentry Center. The Tigers are 3-2 on home court and are coming off a conference 69-63 win over Eastern Kentucky.

This is the 49th meeting between the teams with Morehead leading the series, 26-22. The last time both teams met TSU defeated the Eagles (6-8, 3-0) in the 2008 OVC Tournament, 68-61.

The Tigers are led in scoring by Gerald Robinson (18.5 ppg) and Jerrell Houston (14.1 ppg).

The Eagles are undefeated in OVC play and are off an OVC win against last season's conference champions, Austin Peay, 84-74.

MSU is led by the balance front-court scoring of by Kenneth Faried (13.4 ppg), Leon Buchanan (12.5 ppg), and Maze Stallworth (12.4 ppg).
