Cheerleading
Wednesday, March 26, 2008

Thank you for your interest in our cheerleading program at Tennessee State University.  Tennessee State University is one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the country, and we condsider our cheerleaders to be elite representatives and ambassadors of the University and the student body.  The expectations for our cheerleading program are consistent with the goals of our student athletes, to grow and mature emotionall, physically, and academically in a way that will have a positive and motivating impact on the future of each individual professionally and socially.

The primary role of our cheerleaders is, first and foremost, to provide spirit and enthusiasm in support of Tennessee State University and its athletic teams.  Equally important is our role to represent Tennessee State University, its student body, alumni, faculty, and staff through community service.  Ultimately, we are actively serching for diverse and outstanding young student athletes with equally high standards and goals to serve as Tennessee State University cheerleaders.

Each candidate must have a 2.3 GPA for High School or College.  Freshmen are welcome to tryout for either squad.

Please take time to complete the required documentation and return it to my office along with a color photograph and a videotape showing the following:
