Athletic Media Relations Director Named Tennessee State University Director of Athletics Teresa Phillips has announced that Wallace Dooley, Jr. has been hired as the Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations at Tennessee State University. Dooley, a native of Nashville, Tennessee and graduate of Tennessee State University, comes to the Tigers' athletic program from the Southwestern Athletic Conference office (Birmingham, AL) where he served as the Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations. He brings over twenty-eight (28) years of athletic media relations and athletic administrative experience to the Tennessee State athletic department. "Wallace is knowledgeable of the profession as well as the university's legacy and heritage." says Phillips. "We are delighted to have a person of Wallace's experience joining our (athletic) family." "It is definitely pleasure to return to my alma mater," commented Dooley. I look forward to serving as a conduit to promote the Tiger athletic program and student-athletes in these days ahead." Dooley was the first full-time sports information director at Alabama A&M (1978) and served as sports information director at several schools, including the University of DC, Virginia State and North Carolina Central. He also served as a Venue Press Chief at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. More recently, he has worked with the Tennessee Titans (NFL) and the Nashville Kats (AFL). He is a member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and was recently elected the president of the Black College Sports Information Directors Association (BCSIDA). -- tsu --
