The newest edition to the game-day atmosphere at TSU home games will be the Tiger Town tailgate area. Situated behind Lot C on the east side of LP Field, Tiger Town will be the central place for fans to gather and tailgate before and after TSU home games. The tailgate area will feature the 92Q Sound Stage which will provide entertainment give away great prizes throughout the afternoon. The tailgate area will be open at 9am for the John Merritt Classic, the Black Biker's Classic, and Homecoming. Tiger Town will be set up so tailgaters will have more space to spread out without interfering in the overall parking and traffic plan. Packages start at $50.00 for the John Merritt Classic and include 3 spaces to tailgate and 2 parking spaces for vehicles. Season tailgating packages are $100.00. The Sound Stage will be the focal point of the Tailgate area, with 92Q giving away prizes all afternoon including one weekend trip to the Atlanta Classic given to the best tailgate. Also, Publix will be giving away a gift card to the "Tailgater of the game". Fans will still be able to tailgate in other parking lots but they will need to purchase enough parking passes to cover the space of their tailgate. Several factors went into creating a centralized tailgate area. In recent years, many fans have been unable find parking in the lots they have paid for and this will allow TSU to better know the inventory of parking spaces available for each lot. Also, the costs of parking attendants and traffic control have continued to increase, and TSU Athletics is forced to find additional revenue streams to finance parking.
