TSU TRACK STANDOUTS, DOMINIQUE WARD & CHRIS HOWELL QUALIFY FOR NCAA

Tigerbelle middle distance runner, Dominique Ward, met the NCAA qualifying standard in the 400m run at the Vanderbilt Invitational track meet on April 21, 2007. Ward, a junior from Beaufort, SC, clocked a time of 54.20 to meet the 54.61 standard for the NCAA Regional's. She finished third in the meet and second in her heat of the 400m race. For the second consecutive week, Dominique lowered the Ohio Valley Conference "Best" performances in the both the 400m and 200m categories. She ran a 24.28 in the 200m. The NCAA regional mark for the 200m is 23.96. +++++++++++++++++++++++ Flying Tigers' sprinter Chris Howell, qualified for the NCAA Regional's in the 200m at the Vanderbilt Invitational track meet on Saturday, April 21, 2007. Howell, a senior sprinter from Southfield, MI, won his heat with a 21.06 clocking. The 2007 NCAA standard for the 200m is 21.19. Chris's clocking puts him on top of the Ohio Valley Conference "Bests" list for the season. He also ran a leg on the 4x100m relay team which clocked another OVC Best for the season with a time of 41.06, just short of the NCAA standard of 40.66.
