NASHVILLE — R'Lazon Brumfield has been jumping out of this world this season for the Tennessee State Track and Field team.
After qualifying for the long jump with a distance of 7.59 on Thursday during the NCAA East Preliminary Round, the sophomore took his game to a new stratosphere. Brumfield leaped to a personal best of 16.36m (53-8¼ ) at Hodges Stadium in his hometown of Jacksonville, Fla.
The mark by Brumfield was the third highest in the event on Saturday. Brumfield has qualified for both the long jump and the triple jump for the 2019 Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The championship will be held at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas on June 5-8.
