MEMPHIS --- Day one of the Memphis Invitational included second-place finishes from R’Lazon Brumfield and James Faison for the Tennessee State men’s track and field team on Friday.
- Brumfield set a new personal record in the long jump with a mark of 7.33m to take second on the day. The distance is the second best in the Ohio Valley Conference this season.
- Faison clocked in at 21.49 in the 200m for second. The Flying Tigers had five finishers in the top 10 in the event. Brumfield also broke 22 seconds in the 200m with a time of 21.98 to take home seventh place.
- In the throwing events, Michael Willingham Jr. set season bests in the javelin (41.05m) and hammer (46.50m).
- Day two of the Memphis Invitational gets underway tomorrow at 10 a.m.
