NASHVILLE --- The 28th annual Chandra Cheeseborough Invitational is scheduled for Saturday, April 7, in Jacksonville, Fla. The meet for high school student-athletes in the area is held annually at Jean Ribault High School – the alma mater of Tennessee State Director of Track and Field Chandra Cheeseborough-Guice.
“For it to be named after me is an honor,” Cheeseborough-Guice said. “To go back to give out the awards is a great feeling. It’s a great opportunity to look at local talent and hopefully bring some back to Nashville.”
A nine-time Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year, Cheeseborough-Guice was recently inducted into the National High School Track and Field Hall of Fame.
On the track, Cheeseborough-Guice won gold medals with the 4x100m and 4x400m relays and a silver in the 400m at the 1984 Olympic games in Los Angeles, Calif.
