Flying Tigers Wrap up Solid Day at MTSU Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State men’s track and field team put together a strong outing at the MTSU Invitational on Saturday.

A pair of freshmen – Michael Willingham Jr. and Marcus Abdul – earned second-place finishes on the day for the Flying Tigers. Willingham Jr.’s weight throw distance of 15.93m was good for second place, while Abdul took second in the 800m in 1:57.46.

Two-time Ohio Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week R’Lazon Brumfield had another good performance on Saturday. The freshman picked up third in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump.

On the track, senior Isaiah Olige completed the 400m in 49.95 for third place. Fellow senior James Faison – three-time OVC Track Athlete of the Week – tied for third in the 55m in 6.55.

Next up for TSU is the Hoosier Hills in Bloomington, Ind. on Feb. 9.
