Flying Tigers Excel at Blazer Invitational

BIRMINGHAM --- The Tennessee State men’s track and field team put on another impressive performance on Friday at the Blazer Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Ohio Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week R’Lazon Brumfield was TSU’s top finisher on the day, taking second place in the triple jump with a distance of 15.00m (49’2.5”). The freshman from Jacksonville, Fla. also took 11th in the long jump on Friday.

In the 60m hurdles, seniors Jemarruse Amos and Isaiah Olige shined for the Flying Tigers. Amos clocked in at 8.22 in the prelims before finishing sixth in the finals in 8.30. Olige qualified for the finals after securing a time of 8.32 in the prelims. His finals time of 8.34 was good for seventh.

OVC Track Athlete of the Week James Faison teamed with Olige, Marcus Abdul and Thomas Mosley for a time of 3:18.67, which is the best for TSU so far this indoor season. 

TSU will compete in the Vulcan Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex tomorrow.
