Brumfield Wins Triple Jump at Vanderbilt Opener

NASHVILLE --- Donning the Tennessee State blue and white for the first time in official competition, freshman jumper R’Lazon Brumfield made a strong first impression for the TSU men’s track and field team at the Vanderbilt Opener on Saturday.

Brumfield won the triple jump with a mark of 15.31m (50’2.75”) and claimed third in the long jump by reaching 7.22m (23’8.25”).

On the track, TSU’s top performances came courtesy of Jemarruse Amos, James Faison, Isaiah Olige and Thomas Mosley. Amos finished second in the 60m hurdles (8.26) followed by Olige in third in 8.28. Faison took third in the 60m (6.88) and fourth in the 400m (48.07). For Mosley, who was making his collegiate track and field debut, an 800m time of 1:54.80 was good for forth on the day.

The Flying Tigers will host the Ed Temple Classic on Jan. 7 at the Gentry Center.
