STARTING LINE: The Tennessee State men’s and women’s track and field teams head to Oxford, Ala. for the Ohio Valley Conference Championship at the newly constructed Choccolocco Park. For the first time in OVC history, the event will span three days (May 11-13).

PARTICIPATING TEAMS: Austin Peay (W), Belmont (M/W), Eastern Illinois (M/W), Eastern Kentucky (M/W), Jacksonville State (W), Morehead State (M/W), Murray State (W), Southeast Missouri (M/W), SIUE (M/W), Tennessee State (M/W), Tennessee Tech (W), UT Martin (M/W).

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY: The Tigerbelles have won four Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships (2001, 2002, 2008, 2015), while the TSU men’s track and field team will be searching for its first-ever OVC Championship.

AT LAST YEAR’S EVENT: TSU’s women’s team placed second at last year’s Outdoor Championship behind two gold medals apiece from Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) in the triple jump and 100m hurdles and Clairwin Dameus (Boynton Beach, Fla.) in the 400m hurdles and long jump. TSU’s 4x100m relay team of Hughes, Dameus, Mikayla Banks (Houston, Texas) and Raven Davis (Junction City, Kan.) also captured first place. For the men, Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) earned the gold in the 800m with Jason Griffin (Gallatin, Tenn.) taking first in the 110m hurdles.  

WEEKLY AWARDS: The Tigerbelles and Flying Tigers have won a number of Ohio Valley Conference weekly awards this outdoor season.
