BRENTWOOD, Tenn. --- Tennessee State men’s track and field seniors Kyle Washington-Scott (St. Louis, Mo.) and Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) were recognized for their performances over the weekend by earning Ohio Valley Conference weekly awards, it was announced on Wednesday. Washington-Scott earned adidas OVC Field Athlete of the Week, while Prince took home adidas OVC Co-Track Athlete of the Week.
Washington-Scott finished fourth in the shot put at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational. His personal record distance of 17.50m (57’5”) is the best in the OVC this outdoor season. It also ranks him 44th in the NCAA East Region.
Prince, who has now been honored three times this outdoor season, won the 800m on Saturday at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational. His 1:48.21 finish is a personal record and the best among OVC student-athletes this season. The time is good enough for 30th in the nation. Prince was also part of TSU’s 4x400m relay team that clocked in at 3:13.77 for third place and the OVC’s top time.
Next up for TSU is the Ohio Valley Championship on May 11-13 in Oxford, Ala.
