JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Tennessee State men’s track and field team wrapped up action at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Saturday with junior Kareem Nicholas (Atlanta, Ga.) competing in the triple jump at Hodges Stadium.
Nicholas turned in a triple jump distance of 15.43m (50'7.5”) on his second attempt to earn 28th place in the highly-competitive field.
After fouling on his first attempt, Nicholas reached 15.43m. He landed at 13.37m (43’10.5") on his final jump of the afternoon.
The event marks the end of a strong season for the Flying Tigers. TSU finished third at the OVC Indoor Championship and third in the OVC Outdoor Championship in addition to sending Nicholas, Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) and Jason Griffin (Gallatin, Tenn.) to the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
