NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) and Jason Griffin (Gallatin, Tenn.) won individual titles for the Tennessee State men’s track and field team on the final day of the Ohio Valley Conference Championship on Saturday at Edward S. Temple Track on the campus of TSU. The Flying Tigers finished the team competition in third place with 133 points.

Prince won the 800m with a time of 1:50.42 to sweep the event for the year after also capturing gold during the indoor season. Griffin’s gold medal came in the 110m hurdles in a personal record time of 14.34.

The Flying Tigers secured three individual silver medals as well as a second-place finish in the 4x400m relay.

Griffin added a second-place finish in the 400m hurdles in 52.38, while Jemarruse Amos (Jacksonville, Fla.) finished second in the 110m hurdles in 14.60. In the shot put, Kyle Washington-Scott (St. Louis, Mo.) came up with a throw of 16.05m (52’8”) to take second.

In the 4x400m relay, Prince and Griffin teamed with Jontue McDowell (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Malik Wright (Tampa, Fla.) for a time of 3:12.76 to earn silver medals.

Kareem Nicholas (Atlanta, Ga.) took bronze in the triple jump with a distance of 15.68m (51’5.5”). TSU’s 4x100m relay team of Wright, Prince, Jerome Henderson III (Clarksville, Tenn.) and James Stewart (Nashville, Tenn.) also had a third-place finish in 41.39.

TSU had top five finishes from Shaquille Cragwall (Lebanon, Tenn.), who took fourth in the triple jump (14.78m - 48’6”) and Marc McCoy (Tampa, Fla.) earning fifth (14.61m -47’4.25”), while Shawn Harris (Memphis, Tenn.) earned fourth in the 110m hurdles in 14.86.

Southeast Missouri won the team event with 199.5 points followed by Eastern Illinois in second place with 140.5 points.
