ATLANTA - Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) won the 800m as the Tennessee State men’s track and field team ended the Georgia Tech Invite on Saturday.
Competing in the 800m for the fourth time this outdoor season, Prince captured first place for the third time by clocking in at 1:49.42 on the day.
In other strong showings for TSU, Ohio Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week Kareem Nicholas (Atlanta, Ga.) and Shaquille Cragwall (Lebanon, Tenn.) finished sixth and seventh, respectively in the triple jump. Nicholas stretched the tape to 14.87m (48’9.5”), with Cragwall reaching 14.75m (48’4.75”). Cragwall also went on to clear the high jump bar set at 1.92m (6’3.5”).
Kyle Washington-Scott (St. Louis, Mo.) posted one of the day’s top performances in the discus with a distance of 49.50m (162’5”). The distance, which is his best on the year, earned him sixth place.
In track events, James Stewarts’ 22.62 time in the 200m was the best for TSU on the day, while Jason Griffin (Gallatin, Tenn.) clocked in at 53.22 in the 400m hurdles.
Next on the schedule is the Ohio Valley Conference Championship on May 13-14 at TSU.
