ATLANTA – Day one of the two-day Georgia Tech Invite was completed by the Tennessee State men’s track and field team on Friday.
Junior Kyle Washington-Scott (St. Louis, Mo.) turned in his best shot put performance in a TSU uniform, earning third place on Friday with a distance of 16.70m (54’9.5”). Roc-M Nesbitt (Atlanta, Ga.) tossed the shot put 14.92m (48’11.5”) for 11th place.
Ohio Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week Kareem Nicholas (Atlanta, Ga.) reached 7.05m (23’1.75”) in the long jump to lock up eighth place. Also in the long jump, Marc McCoy (Tampa, Fla.) turned in a distance of 6.85m (22’5.75”) to take 10th.
On the track, Jason Griffin (Gallatin, Tenn.) set a new personal record in the 110m hurdles, clocking in at 14.69 in the semifinals of the event. Earlier in the day, Griffin posted a time of 14.98 in the preliminary round.
