BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Following the Tennessee State men's track and field team’s first outdoor action of the season, Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) and Kareem Nicholas (Atlanta, Ga.) were honored for their performances with Prince earning Adidas Ohio Valley Conference Track Athlete of the Week and Nicholas taking home Adidas OVC Field Athlete of the Week.
Prince posted the top time in the 800m at the Bulls Invitational with a 1:49.36 effort. The time is the best in the OVC this year and ranks third in the nation so far this outdoor season. Prince was also part of the 4x100m relay squad that placed second at the Bulls Invitational.
Nicholas racked up two top five finishes at the Bulls Invitational last week in the field events. The Atlanta, Ga. native took third in the long jump with a distance of 24’01.50”. The distance is a personal record and ranks first in the OVC and 18th in the nation. Nicholas earned fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 48’10” which is the best in the OVC and good for top 30 in the nation.
The Flying Tigers are back in action on March 25-26 at Vanderbilt for the Black & Gold Invitational.
