NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Quamel Prince was named Co-Male Track Athlete of the Year by the Ohio Valley Conference, Thursday.
Prince has been the top performer for the Flying Tigers all season and currently has the fourth-fastest time in the 200 meter (21.78 seconds) and 400 meters dashes (47.70) that he clocked on Jan. 17 at the Wisconsin Open.
The junior also ranks second in the 800 meter after setting a pace of 1:50.36 in his last meet, the Samford Multi & Invitational on Feb. 13.
The Nashville native is the first TSU male competitor to be named OVC Athlete of the Year since Nick Horton in 2004 and only the fourth all-time. Horton was also crowned in 2003 and Eric Lindsey was the first in 1998.
Prince and the rest of the Flying Tigers and Tigerbelles will begin action at the OVC Tournament on Feb. 27.
