Blue Beats White in Annual Track and Field Tune-Up

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Despite some solid performances from the White Team, the Blue Squad prevailed at Wednesday night’s Blue and White Meet at Tennessee State University.

Clairwin Dameus led the White Team by taking took home first place in the long jump (19.0’) and 55-meter hurdles (7.66 seconds).

Flecia Oladokun got more points for team White with a win in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 39 feet. Quamel Prince continued the trend with an early victory in the 600-meter dash after a time of 1:27.7.

After that, it was all Blue Team.

India Smith won the women’s 55-meter dash (6.9 seconds) and Travon Alexander did the same on the men’s side (6.18) for team Blue.

Smith struck again in the 150-meter dash (18.8) and Amber Hughes picked up a win in the 300-meter (39.13).

In the field events, Angel Davis dominated the shot put and weight throws with tosses of 39’3” and 48’11”, respectively. Kareem Nicholas closed out the big day for Blue with a hop of 23’3.5” in the long jump.

The TSU track and field teams will officially start their seasons on Dec. 4 with the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt.
