NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After opening 2015 with a visit to Birmingham, Ala., the Tennessee State track and field teams will continue their Indoor Season by traveling to Madison, Wisc. for the Badger Open on Jan. 17.
Each side had fine showing in last weekend’s UAB Blazer Invite, but the top performance was by Quamel Prince.
The Antioch, Tenn. native took home first prize in both the 500 and 800 meter dashes en route to being named OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week.
Also helping the Flying Tigers’ cause were Kenji Anderson and Daryl Rice who each jumped the sixth best height in the high jump, reaching 1.95 meters (6’4).
Clairwin Dameus paced the Tigerbelles by not only winning the women’s long jump, but also teaming up to finish second in the 4x400 relay.
TSU will be the first-ever HBCU to compete in the Badger Open.
The Tigerbelles and Flying Tigers will square off against Big East foe Marquette as well as the host UW starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
