NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For the second time in a row, Amber Hughes was named Ohio Valley Conference Athlete of the Week. After winning the league’s Field Athlete of the Week last Wednesday, the sophomore earned Co-Track Athlete of the Week honors, today.
The Atlanta, Ga. native picked up a pair of first place finishes at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invite last week. She won the 200 meters with a time of 24.61 and took the 100-meter hurdles with a mark of 13.80. Both times are the fastest in the OVC this season.
Hughes currently ranks 39th, nationally, in the 100 meter hurdles, and 14th in the triple jump.
The Tennessee State track and field teams will next compete this weekend at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla.
