Nashville, Tenn. - The Flying Tigers will open the 2010-11 indoor track and field season when Tennessee State University travels to Middle Tennessee State's Christmas Invitational.
The meet is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Murphy Center on the campus of MTSU. The women's weight throw will open the competition at 11 a.m. with the last event, the men and women's 4x400m relay, slated to start at 4:40 p.m.
Teams already on the list to compete include: Georgia Tech, Miligan, Alabama Birmingham, Austin Peay State and Western Kentucky.
The team opened up the season last year at MTSU, before the Christmas break, with a pair of first-place finishes.
Phillip Myton, one of the Flying Tigers' top returners, won the 400m dash with a time 49.97 seconds. Xavier Walton finished third in the long jump last year with a mark of 23-2 ½ (7.07m). Walton finished in the OVC in the top three for a consecutive year in the event in both indoor and outdoor competition. RECAP...
