Murfreesboro, Tenn. - After a tough outing at home last week, the Tennessee State University Flying Tigers put up some strong performances at the Middle Tennessee State Invitational on Saturday.
The 4x400m relay "A" team picked up the only victory with time of 3:24.27. The "B" team finished second with a time of 3:27.99.
TSU also tacked on second place in the 400m and long jump. Michael Johnson finished runner-up in the 400m with a time of 50.81 secs.
In his second meet since transferring to TSU in January, Royce Dates notched second in the long jump with a mark of 23"01.25 (7.04m). He also finished third in the triple jump at 42"08.00 (13.00m).
Along with Dates, Jamal Henderson was able to finish in the top three in multiple events. Henderson cleared 6" 02.00 (1.88m) for second in the high jump and followed Johnson for third in the 400m with a time of 52.65 seconds.
In the sprints, Lequinn Davis finished the 200m in third and 55m in fourth. In the 200m he ran a 22.68 to add to his individual performance. He qualified for the finals of the 55m with a 6.63 clocking, but finished the event with a clocking of 6.63 secs.
Next week, the Flying Tigers will make their fourth visit this season to the Murphy Center to close out the regular indoor season at the MTSU Valentine Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 12.
