Nashville, Tenn. - The Flying Tigers competed in their last home meet of the indoor season after Tennessee State University hosted the TSU Invite on Saturday.
More than 30 teams from Division I schools to track clubs, including a record number of participants, 814, competed inside the Gentry Center on the Wilma Rudolph track.
Combest picked up third place in the 55m hurdles and the high jump. He qualified for the finals of the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.75 seconds and finished the event overall at 7.62 seconds.
He then added another third place finish on the day in the high jump clearing the bar at 6-08.00 (2.03m). The mark currently puts him atop the Ohio Valley Conference rankings in the event.
In the long jump, Hughes managed to finish third overall, but was the top collegiate finisher in the event. He posted his best jump of the season with a mark of 22-11.74 (7.00m). He now sits fourth on the current OVC long jump list this season behind teammate Xavier Walton.
The Flying Tigers will continue their indoor season at the Middle Tennessee State Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
