Nashville, Tenn. - The men's track and field team will head to the state of Alabama for the first-of-two competitions. The Flying Tigers will compete at the Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa inside the Sam Bailey Track & Field Complex.
The meet will feature teams from the Division I & II collegiate ranks from Thursday, March 24, to Sunday, March 27.
TSU will compete in the running events which are scheduled to kick-off on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with the start of the 10,000 meter run and will continue with a rolling schedule. Sunday's schedule will begin with the hammer throw at 8 a.m.
Teams scheduled to compete include: Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Christian Brothers, Mississippi, Shorter, Alabama State, Alabama, Alabama A&M, Alabama-Huntsville, Northern Alabama, South Alabama, Alcorn State, Southern Miss., Notre Dame, Toronto, Furman, Kennesaw State, Arkansas State, West Alabama, Hendrix, Louisville, Hampton, Stillman, Belmont, Allen County CC, Tennessee Martin, and Samford.
The Flying Tigers return to the Alabama Relays after a seven-year absence. In 2004, Nick Horton led TSU finishing first in the 400m with a winning time of 46.69. He also tacked on fifth place in the 200m, running it in 21.25 seconds. RESULTS...
TSU is coming off the Morehouse College Relays in Atlanta, Georgia where Michael Rideout finished the 400m in third-place overall, first in collegiate competition. Rideout finished with a time of 49.98 seconds. RECAP...
Rideout was named OVC Co-Male Track Athlete of the Week for his efforts.
For their next meet, TSU will head to Auburn, Ala. for the Tiger Track Classic. The meet is scheduled for Friday, April 1-2.
