Nashville, Tenn. - To open the 2011 schedule, The Tennessee State University Flying Tigers will compete at home in the 11th Annual Ed Temple Indoor Track and Field Classic.
The meet is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 8, on the Wilma Rudolph Indoor Track inside the Gentry Center.
The competition honors former and legendary TSU Tigerbelles head coach Ed Temple.
The running events will resume at 10:30 a.m. with the women's 55m hurdles. The meet will then move to a rolling schedule per event with a two-heat final in the 55m hurdles and dash.
With more than 300 competitors entered, the pool of men and women teams include: Alabama A&M, Florida A&M (F) Lipscomb, Middle Tennessee State, Savannah State, Southern, Troy (F) Western Kentucky.
The Flying Tigers popped the season off at the Middle Tennessee State Christmas Invitational in mid December. They credit one win, three second and two third-place awards, to their first meet of the 2010-11 season. RECAP...
