MT&F round out standings at OVC Championship

Charleston, Ill. - The Tennessee State University Flying Tigers ended the 2011 OVC Championship in fourth place in the overall team standings.

TSU added 23 points to their score from day one finishing with 53 points on Saturday at Lantz Arena.

Eastern Illinois captured their third straight indoor title with 238 total points followed by Eastern Kentucky with 99, and Southeast Missouri with 94.

The 4x400m relay team (Phillip Myton, Michael Rideout, Lequinn Davis, Michael Johnson) finished with the best performance on the final day. They crossed the line with a time of 3:22.23 (3:19.83#).

After winning the high jump in day one of competition, Arthur Combest added a fourth-place finish in the 60m hurdles. He clocked in at 8.22 seconds in the only heat of the event.

In addition to the running events, Lequinn Davis ended the 60m finals in fourth with a time of 6.99 seconds. Micah Poole followed in sixth posting a time of 7.06 seconds.

In the 400m, Michael Johnson and Phillip Myton closed out the scoring in the event finishing in at fifth and sixth. Johnson ran 51.44 seconds and Myton fell in after at 51.63 seconds.

TSU picked up another fifth and sixth place finish on the final day in a pair of field events. Xavier Walton grabbed fifth in the triple jump (13.58m - 44' 06.75") and Duvall Young scored in the shot put with a sixth-place finish (11.42m - 37'05.75").

The Flying Tigers will open the 2011 outdoor season in Atlanta, Ga. at Morehouse Relays from March 18-19.
