Nashville, Tenn. - After opening the season at the 39th Annual Morehouse College Relays, the Tennessee State University men's track and field team will travel to Cookeville, Tenn. to take part in the TTU Invitational.

The meet, hosted by OVC opponent Tennessee Tech, will take place on Saturday (3/27), beginning with the men's section of the hammer throw slated for a 10 a.m. start. The running events will kick-off with the women's 3, 000-meter steeplechase.

The teams scheduled to compete include men and women squads from Alabama A&M, Carson Newman, Tennessee Tech, and Kentucky State.

The Flying Tigers will look to get a feel of TTU's track and field facility which will house the 2010 OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship from April 30 - May 1. TTU recently completed construction adding pole vault and steeplechase capabilities while repainting the track surface.

Last week, TSU finished eighth in the team standings at the Morehouse Relays with Michael Rideout winning the 400-meter dash. Rideout managed his first collegiate win in the event finishing with a time of 48.26. He was named the OVC's Track Athlete of the Week (3/22) for his efforts.

In the 800-meter, Christopher Hobbs posted a time of 1:58.87 for a third-place finish.
