Sprinters spotlight Flying Tigers at TSU Invite

Nashville, Tenn. - The Flying Tigers' sprinters helped highlight Tennessee State University at the TSU Invite on the Wilma Rudolph Indoor Track inside the Gentry Center on Saturday (2/6).

Arthur Combest qualified for the finals in the 55-meter hurdles (7.73 seconds) and improved his time on the season to 7.60 seconds in the finals to place third overall. Combest now moves to second place on the OVC Best List and currently holds the fastest time in the 55-meter hurdles with a faster 60-meter time ahead of him.

In the 200-meter dash, Julian Mallory captured third for his best finish on the season. He recorded a time of 22.39 seconds, just nine-hundredths of second of his fastest mark this year.

Mallory would later help the 4x400-meter relay team with Michael Rideout, Nathaniel Moore, and Christopher Hobbs to a third-place standing with a clocking of 3:19.58.

Earlier, Rideout took third in the open 400-meter dash with his fastest time for the season, 49.11 seconds. Rideout moves to fourth on the OVC charts for his performance. Moore followed at 49.17 seconds for fourth overall also registering his fastest of the season. He now sits in the fifth slot in the conference in the event.

In the field events, Adrien Hill posted the top team performance. He finished fifth overall with a career-indoor mark of 22" 4.5 (6.82m). As a result, Hill moves to fifth on the OVC list.

Next, the Flying Tigers will compete in the Valentine Invitational hosted by Middle Tennessee State. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Murphy Center on the campus of MTSU.
