Auburn, Ala. - The Tennessee State University Flying Tigers closed out the regular outdoor track and field season after competing in the War Eagle Invitational hosted by Auburn University on Saturday.
In a field that featured a high depth of competition, TSU finished in the top ten in four events with several sprinters posting their fastest times of the season.
The 4x100-meter relay team recorded the best outing for the Flying Tigers finishing fifth overall. The team of Xavier Walton, Johnnie Poole, Julian Mallory and Dwayne Johnson, clocked in at 41.81 seconds.
Mallory also recorded career times in the 100m (10.77 seconds) and 200m (21.79 seconds) registering top times for TSU in the event. To date he has posted the fastest times in the events for Flying Tigers.
Despite having his win streak snapped, Michael Rideout registered a personal best in the 400m running a time of 48.14 seconds for sixth place. Other top ten finishes include Xavier Walton in the long jump (7th - 22" 09.25 / 6.94m) and James Bradford in the hammer throw (7th - 117"10 / 35.91m)
The Flying Tigers will return to the track to compete in the OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship from April 30 - May 1. The meet is hosted by Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tenn.
