Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University men and women's cross country teams will host the 2009 Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championship. The meet is schedule for Saturday, October 31st at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tenn.
The men's 8k race will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by the women's 5k race scheduled for 10:00 a.m. The championship will conclude with the team and individual awards ceremony.
The women are led by seniors Jaleeca and Jasmine Jacobs, and freshman Apryl Johnson, while the men are led by junior Phillip Myton and sophomore Chris Hobbs. Jal. Jacobs leads the Tigerbelles with the fastest time in the 5k at 23:36.51. Hobbs has finished first for the Flying Tigers throughout the season posting his fastest mark of 30:43.30 in the 8k.
As voted on by the OVC head cross country coaches in the 2009 preseason selection, Eastern Kentucky's men and Murray State's women were predicted to finish first. EKU's Stanley Mugo and Picoty Leitich enter the championship with the fastest times in their respective races. Mugo tops the list in the 8k with a 24:37.84 clocking while Leitich registers a 17:45.02 in the 5k.
Team Lodging. Tennessee State University has recommended housing for the meet at selected properties throughout the Nashville area. The visiting teams are NOT required to stay at those properties. Each team is responsible for making its own reservations, and is also responsible for all hotel costs.

Take Interstate 40 west to exit 199 (Old Hickory Blvd.), turn left and follow Old Hickory Blvd. for 4 miles to Highway 100 (Old Hickory will dead-end at this intersection). Turn left at Highway 100. Turn right into Vaughn's Creek (Percy Warner Park), just past Old Hickory Blvd.
From the South:
Take I-65 N to I-440 W. Take West End Ave. exit (exit 1) West. Follow West End Ave. West and continue onto Harding Road. Bare left onto Highway 100 at the Highway 100 and Highway 70 split. Turn left into Vaughn's Creek (Percy Warner Park) off of Highway 100, before Old Hickory Blvd.
From the Tennessee State University:
