Beal Wins Long Jump with Season Best

Nashville, Tenn. - After coming off several first place finishes in the last week, the Tennessee State University men's track and field team had to settle for one top finish courtesy of Darreal Beal.

Beal stands at the center of the podium after receiving his first place award. 

Beal won the long jump with a season best leap of 24'01.75" edging out former Flying Tiger, Buford Williams, by a quarter of an inch. Beal also competed in the 60-meter dash for the first time this season, qualfying for the finals, running 7.10 seconds. He finished overall with a 7.13 clocking.

After back-to-back first place finishes in his last two starts, Nathaniel Moore had to settle for fourth in the 400-meter dash. Moore ran 49.47 seconds in the event before running 22.64 seconds in the 200-meter dash for sixth place.

The 1600-meter relay team of Moore, Franz Holmes, Isaiah Marshall and Kendre Streeter ran their fastest time this season in the event for fourth place, finishing with a time of 3:21.62. 

Next, the Flying Tigers will compete in the Valentine Invitational hosted by Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, February 14th.
